Reflecting on this topic, we are reminded of when InVision created a multilayered communications plan for American Express (Amex) that realigned its cultural approach, fostering relationship-building and open dialogue with its most valuable stakeholders—its people.
Our Approach…
With the immense task of initiating a customer-centric culture cohesive with the company’s Changing the World at Work campaign, InVision created a months-long communications plan leading up to its launch. The solutions embraced Amex’s evolving organization, prioritized employee engagement and set a foundation for positive change - ensuring that each strategic solution was rooted in unity.
Despite early volatility within the organization and employee disengagement, InVision leveraged a strategic communications approach and deployed interim programs to stabilize and improve relationships within Amex before its campaign launch. In a cohesive approach, the campaign’s Town Hall meetings fostered open dialogue between leadership and employees; leader engagement activities embraced an environment of cooperation versus competition; and a suite of communications tools reached Amex’s employee attendees around the globe.
The Outcome…
Amex’s mission to provide pivotal value and support to its customers so that they can change the world demanded employee investment and engagement. By creating a foundation for internal change, all Amex employees were now deemed equally important and deserving of transparency around the mission, strategies, and opportunities of the company. Offering solutions that empowered and engaged Amex employees resulted in a strong sense of its mission and paved the way for future communications.
